What is winrain :
winrain is a Windows jailbreak tool similar like checkra1n. You can use checkra1n for mac os and bootable drive. Now you can use winrain without making bootable pendrive for jailbreak. Essentially, this process uses that vulnerability to jailbreak iOS devices from iPhone 5S to iPhone X, iOS 12.3 and above. The loophole that they have identified is a hardware vulnerability and hence, CANNOT BE PATCHED BY APPLE. It can only be rectified by changing the hardware configuration, and not by a software patch that they can release as part of a system update.
What is Jailbreak?
A “jailbreak” is a method to get escalated privileges on the iOS platform, that lets you do a lot of things that Apple otherwise wouldn’t want you to. For e.g., downloading third-party apps that are not available through the App Store. Jailbroken iPhones will have super-user privileges to install apps that are not available through the App Store.
Disadvantage of Jailbreak
Jailbroken iOS devices are also at a greater risk of being compromised. Most users who jailbreak their phones download and install apps and services that are otherwise not advisable to have on their iPhones due to security reasons. One of such services is a Secure Shell (SSH) that can leave an iPhone in a very vulnerable state to remote attacks if the necessary changes are not made to your credentials.
How to Install and Use Winrain :
Step 01 – Download WinRa1n 2.1 to your computer.
Step 02 – Unzip the downloaded file using software like WinRAR or 7-Zip.
Step 03 – Make sure you have the latest versions of iTunes and iCloud from Apple installed on your computer.
Step 04 – Install the required USB drivers for your device (AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi and UsbDk_1.0.22_x64.msi). You’ll find them in the WinRa1n folder you extracted earlier.
Step 05 – Restart your computer.
Step 06 – Run WinRa1n2.1.exe as an administrator.
Step 07 – Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable and click “Trust” on your device. You might need to enter your passcode.
Step 08 – Click the “Fix Driver” button.
Step 09 – Choose between checkM8, checkra1n, or Palera1n based on your device model and iOS version.
Select either Normal, Recovery, or DFU mode based on your device’s state.
Step 10 – Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the jailbreak.
Step 11 – Wait for your device to restart and finish the process. It usually takes about 10 seconds, and your device’s icon should turn blue.
